Cross-stitch is probably one of the oldest and most popular forms of embroidery recognised and used worldwide. The stitch is made up of two parts with two diagonal stitches worked over each other to form a cross. It is usually worked on canvas, aida or evenweave fabric. Ideal for all skill-levels, this technique is a ‘must’ to try – very addictive! The Father Christmas Bellpull was a Round Robin that I was involved with on the America Crafts Forum. Each Father Christmas is stitched by a different person. The full bellpull is shown in the Home page. I stitched the top one. The ccs piece ‘In the Arms of an Angel’ is a Lavender and Lace Chart by Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum. The face and hands of the angel, and the head of the child are stitched 0/0 ( this means stitching over one thread of the fabric with one thread in the needle) It gives a much finer look. A lot of gold threads and beads are used in this piece. The ‘Gift of Peace’ Father Christmas is also ‘Lavender and Lace’ Lots of gold thread and beads are used in this embroidery. The sampler is a kit. The Flowers of the Month pictures were stitched from a magazine, long since lost. These were probably the first cross stitch pieces I stitched. The Amish four seasons were stitched soon after. The piece with the sports pictures was another round Robin. I stitched the sailing boats. This is now with the owner.
